RICHARD WRIGHT nasceu em 1908 no Mississipi, região no sul dos Estados Unidos, onde à época vigorava um duro regime de segregação racial. Em 1927, a fim estabelecer-se como escritor, migra para Chicago e depois para Nova York. Escreveu contos, romances, novelas e ensaios. Dentre suas principais obras estão Black Boy (1945), The Outsider (1953) e White Man, Listen! (1957). Morreu em 1960, exilado em Paris. |
