Novey, Idra
Idra Novey nasceu na cidade de Johnstown, Pensilvânia, Estados Unidos, e graduou-se na Universidade de Columbia, com um mestrado em escrita criativa. Morou por algum tempo no Chile e no Brasil, antes de fixar-se em Nova York, onde reside atualmente. Publicou seu primeiro livro de poemas, The Next Country, em 2008, ao qual se seguiram Exit, Civilian (2011) e Clarice: The Visitor (2014) — este, em grande parte, fruto de seu profundo interesse pela obra de Clarice Lispector.Além de seu trabalho como escritora, que lhe rendeu inúmeros prêmios, e de sua colaboração regular em jornais e revistas como o Los Angeles Times, The New York Times e The Paris Review, Idra Novey tem uma atuação das mais significativas como tradutora, tendo vertido para o inglês a própria Clarice (The Passion According to G. H., 2012), e os poetas Paulo Henriques Britto (The Clean Shirt of It, 2007) e Manoel de Barros (Birds for a Demolition, 2011). Como professora de tradução e escrita criativa, Idra Novey lecionou nas universidades de Princeton, de Columbia, na Universidade Católica do Chile, na New York University e na Bard Prison Initiative.Considerado um dos melhores livros do ano nos Estados Unidos, Ways to Disappear (A arte de desaparecer), lançado em 2016, é seu primeiro romance e recebeu, entre outros, o prestigioso Brooklyn Eagles Literary Prize de 2016 e o Sami Rohr Prize de 2017. |
