Sterne, Laurence
LAURENCE STERNE nasceu em 1713 em Clonmel, Irlanda. Autor de inúmeros sermões, deu início à carreira literária com o panfleto A Political Romance, em 1759, mesmo ano em que começou a redigir sua obra-prima em nove volumes, A vida e as opiniões do cavalheiro Tristram Shandy, que o tornaria uma celebridade na capital inglesa. De saúde extremamente debilitada, Sterne foi forçado a diversas viagens terapêuticas durante a vida. Faleceu em Londres, aos 54 anos. |
