Dewey, John
John Dewey (1859-1952) é amplamente reconhecido como um dos mais importantes pensadores e filósofos da educação da era moderna. Recebeu o título de Ph.D. pela Universidade John Hopkins em 1884 e de Doutor em Ciências Jurídicas pela Universidade de Wisconsin e pela Universidade de Vermont. Dewey se tornou membro da faculdade da Universidade de Chicago em 1894, como chefe dos departamentos unificados de filosofia, psicologia e educação, criando o Laboratório Experimental ou Laboratório-escola em 1896. Tornou-se professor titular de Filosofia do Instituto Superior de formação de professores da Universidade Columbia em 1904. Dewey foi homenageado pela importância da sua obra pela Kappa Delta Pi em 1925 e em 1935 foi fundada em sua honra a Sociedade John Dewey. Além de Experiência e educação, Dewey é também autor de outros 37 livros e 815 artigos e breves tratados, incluindo School and Society (1915), Democracy and Education (1916) e The Sources of a Science of Education (1929). |
